What's On

Travels With My Aunt was originally a novel by Graham Greene written in 1969, but was adapted for the stage by Giles Harvegal, artistic director of the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow in 1989. The play then transferred through to the West End.

The plot follows Henry Pulling, a retired, unmarried bank manager who, upon meeting his eccentric aunt, begins to unravel secrets about her life and his own background. His new adventures take place throuh travels to new destinations, which take him physically and emotionally far away from his quiet suburban existence and into a world of crime, romance and scandal.

The play is an ensemble comedy, with four actors playing 24 characters. The play adaptation, upon transferring to London, won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment in 1993.  This is believed to be the first time it has returned to Scotland for amateur production.
