Present Tense Productions aberdeen amateur theatre company actor Matthew Thomson director Wendy Smith and marketing Ross Brechin WELCOME

Welcome to the Present Tense Productions website!

Present Tense Productions was founded in May 2007 and was set up primarily to produce contemporary theatre of a very high standard in Aberdeen.  Locally, there seemed to be a genuine lack of gutsy, edgy and avant-garde amateur theatre productions and the founding members, local drama teacher and director Wendy Smith, local marketing and PR manager Ross Brechin and local actor Matthew Thomson, aimed to fill the void by producing high-quality non-conventional plays.

We are committed to producing work of the highest quality. Experienced teams of accomplished local actors are cast in plays, and work towards the achievement of consistently excellent performances and personal development. We are committed to using the best people in Aberdeen, not just the actors involved in the plays, but in all areas of the production from the director to the stage manager.

In July 2007, Present Tense Productions successfully staged a three-night run of Glengarry Glen Ross, an award winning play by David Mamet.  Then, in March 2008 the company successfully produced a three-night sell out run of Treatment by Jonathan Moore in the HMT Studio. In July 2008, Present Tense Productions returned to the Arts Centre stage with their production of Strangers on a Train, a play by Craig Warner, adapted from the novel by Patricia Highsmith. This was the company’s third production and was a massive success both artistically and commercially.

All of our productions were extremely well received and you can find out more about them in the "Productions" section of this website.

Tickets for our plays are available from Aberdeen Box Office on 01224-641122 or at http://www.boxofficeaberdeen.com/
